Operation Sceptre – Summary of Activity |
||
|
During Operation Sceptre (Knife Crime Awareness Week), Sevenoaks officers carried out a series of proactive engagement and preventative activities across the town, working in partnership with local businesses and the community to raise awareness and reduce the risk of knife related crime. Activity included engagement events at Sevenoaks train station at the start of the week, where members of the public were provided with advice and information around knife crime, as well as knife sweeps conducted in the town centre to identify and remove any items that could pose a risk to public safety. Later in the week the town centre officer also visited local retailers to ensure compliance with legislation relating to the sale of bladed articles, confirming that knives were securely stored and that Challenge 25 policies were being adhered to at the point of sale. . Throughout the week, high visibility patrols and positive engagement with young people and members of the public contributed to reassurance and reinforcing key preventative messaging. PC Nick Hubbard said: “Sevenoaks is a safe place to live and there is not a knife problem locally, but it is always good to engage with stores and the community to raise awareness and prevent or reduce any such incidents. It was great to see that businesses in the town were all compliant and had the necessary working practices in place to safeguard the public as best as possible.” Please help spread the word by clicking the Share button below, and if you enjoy this content, don't forget to click the thumbs up button! | ||
