Suspect charged with multiple west Kent thefts


A Maidstone resident has been charged with multiple theft offences across west Kent.

Between Saturday 23 September and Thursday 21 December 2023, meat, alcohol, clothing and other items were reported stolen from shops in Maidstone, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Snodland and Sevenoaks.

Businesses targeted included Marks and Spencer, Next, the Co-op and Tesco, with the value of missing items exceeding £5,700.

Detained

On Thursday 4 January 2024, a man was arrested by Local Policing Team constables.

Lee Plant, of West Park Road, Maidstone was later charged by investigators from the Maidstone Victim Based Crime Team with 16 counts of theft.

The 43-year-old was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 5 January.
