Vehicle Security

Good morning

This week 2 vehicles have been reported stolen within the Sheppey East area. Both were vehicles with keyless entry technology.

Please follow the link below for further vehicle crime prevention advice. Please also be aware of any persons/vehicles acting suspiciously - if you think a crime is in progress call 999, otherwise call 101 or go on the Kent Police website to report the incident.

The key messages are:

Try to park in well lit areas covered by CCTV and overlooked by numerous houses

Lock your vehicle any time it is to be left unattended even if just for a short time - check it has locked before walking away.

For keyless entry cars - keep the keys & spare key as far away from the vehicle as possible and inside a signal blocking pouch such as a faraday bag

For non keyless entry cars - keep the keys out of sight and away from any doors/windows

Consider additional security features such as trackers (consider apple air-tag or similar equivalent), immobilisers, steering locks etc.
