Pick pocketing in the Town Centre

Hello all,

Today we hosted an event in Ashford Town Centre in partnership with Ashford Borough Council. It was great to see so many of you there and we handed out a total of 45 safety key chains. These key chains are designed to attach to your phone or wallet and attach to your clothing via a clip preventing anyone from stealing them.

A popular technique used by thieves at the moment is distraction techniques where they will tap people on the shoulder and claim they have something on their jacket. They will then try and attempt to reach into a persons pockets and steal their valuables.

There is advice around pick pocketing and how to keep yourself and your valuables safe . This advice is available on the Kent Police website (link below)

Don’t let them pocket it | Kent Police

If you see anything suspicious or have any concerns please call us on 999 (emergency) or 101 (non emergency)

Thankyou
