Criminal Damage and a Suspicious Incident appeal.

Hello all.

Hope you're all well and enjoying the lighter evenings and ‘slightly’ warmer weather!

We've had an incident in Lydd whereby significant criminal damage has been caused to a property in The Beeches which is off of Harden Road, this is likely to have taken place on Saturday 8th March and then a further report of damage was received on Sunday 9th.

The Beeches is a Cul-de-Sac with no official footpaths that lead out of the dead-end part and therefore you would only enter and exit via Harden Road if you live, are visiting or delivering there.

It is believed that the offenders are youths and therefore this is an appeal to parents who have children that live in the immediate vicinity especially but also other parents/guardians to advise your child not to enter The Beeches unless they have a legitimate reason for going there, thank you.

Late on Friday evening (7th March) into the early hours of Saturday an unknown male was reported to have been walking onto the driveways of properties in the area of Rolfe Lane New Romney and other nearby roads.

I have an image of the male but if any resident has information about this including CCTV please contact me at 13183@kent.police.uk thank you.

As usual I politely ask that with regards to all of the above please don't speculate on social media as these things can spiral out of control when good willed investigative decisions are made on Facebook and the like, by budding Columbos.

It's a good reminder to us all to keep our CCTV cameras clean from spider webs, charged and subscriptions up to date if this is affordable, if not some of these cameras can have memory cards inserted into them to capture the footage negating monthly/yearly subscriptions.

Make sure security lights are functioning and covering the most vulnerable areas.

Ensure your windows and doors are locked when you go to bed or even in the daytime if you don't need to use them.

Remember to lock your vehicles and utilise the alarm if fitted and also a good old fashioned steering wheel lock or similar are great deterrents, simple security is sometimes the best!

Lastly have a chat with your pet dog and make sure they're up to speed as to when they should do their intruder alert bark!

Thank you.

Steve.
