Police property found provides brighter future for young people in Dover

Kent Police has given young people in Dover a technological boost to provide them with the best chances of employment.

Funding from the Kent Police Property Fund has been used to buy computer equipment for the Future Skills programme based in the district.

Future Skills CIC is currently working with many young people in the area to support them in finding employment and training programmes.

The donation of five Chromebooks and a laptop will ensure all of the programme’s attendees will have access to IT facilities as they build on their skills and development.

The equipment was presented to Carol Clayton and Andy Dennis from Future Skills on Wednesday 23 April 2025 by district commander for Dover, Chief Inspector Liz Cokayne-Delves.

Ch Insp Cokayne-Delves said:

‘It is a pleasure to be able to donate towards a great cause which supports and encourages the younger members of our community towards a more positive and brighter future. By providing opportunities to develop new skills, it means there is less risk of people turning to criminal behaviour.’

The money was made available by the force’s Property Fund, which distributes money from the sale of unclaimed lost property or items seized during police operations.

Money raised from the fund is given to local groups which provide a service to communities in Kent throughout the year.
