Coastal patrolling

Good Morning,

As we enter August and the busy Summer period for Herne Bay and Whitstable, welcoming visitors to our popular coastline, we are keen to reassure our local residents of our continued efforts to keeping the area safe. Following our commitment to increasing Police resources to the area alongside support from our partners at Canterbury City Council, there has been an encouraging reduction in overall instances reported to Police. We remain focused however on maintaining a reduction in Anti Social Behaviour and ensuring that it isn't allowed to return, and we are continuing to target persistent causes and those responsible.

It is important to note that you may not always see our officers. Despite an increase in uniformed and visible patrols, on foot and in vehicles, we have also increased numbers of officers on duty patrolling the area that are not in uniform and in unmarked vehicles. You may not see them but they are around. As always however, we cannot be in all places at all times, to respond to incidents as they happen in front of us. We therefore encourage you to continue to report all anti-social behaviour. Every report is logged and reviewed by the Community Safety Unit every morning, where trends and concerns can be quickly identified and an appropriate response planned. Please do not rely on others reporting for you and remember that if we are not aware of something then we are unable to respond. Working together however we are encouraged by some of the results so far and we thank all of those who have helped to report incidents, support our officers and act to keep our Coastal Towns a safe place to live, work and visit.

We hope that you enjoy a great weekend and keep safe.
