Knife Sweep Community Safety Update |
||
|
Today, local officers completed knife sweeps around public playing fields in Mangravit, Shepway and Parkwood.
Purpose
We were committed to keeping Maidstone safe. As part of our ongoing efforts to reduce knife crime, local officers and PCSOs carried out knife sweeps in public spaces. These sweeps helped remove dangerous items and protect our community.
What Were Knife Sweeps?
Knife sweeps involved searching public areas such as parks, alleyways, and open spaces for discarded or hidden weapons. This was a proactive measure to prevent harm and keep these areas safe for everyone.
Why Did We Do This?
To reduce the risk of knife-related incidents. To make public spaces safer for families and young people. To support community confidence in local policing.
How Did It Work?
Officers conducted searches in identified areas. Any items found were safely removed and recorded. We worked closely with local partners to share intelligence and improve safety.
Your Role
If you saw anything suspicious, you were encouraged to report it via 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers (0800 555 111). Our PCSOs engaged with the public during the sweeps to answer questions and listen to concerns.
Community Commitment We want Maidstone to remain a safe place for everyone. These sweeps were just one part of our wider strategy to tackle knife crime and anti-social behaviour.
