I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Other issues, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Dear residents,
The Town Centre officers have had a busy January.
Some recent arrests include: A male was arrested in the town centre following allegations of assault on two juveniles. This was reported to Town Centre officers whilst on foot and the youths safeguarded and evidence capture completed. This investigation is ongoing.
One male arrested for a Prison recall and another male arrested for a court warrant.
A male was arrested for assault following a large disturbance in The Pantiles.
A female was arrested following 6 thefts across Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge. She has been charged and bailed to court.
A male was arrested for a theft at B&M, having stolen alcohol. He was located the same day and charged for this offence and bailed to court.
ASB:
A youth was detained and searched following reports of him shooting a catapult in the town centre. The investigation into this matter is ongoing, and the youth will be interviewed regarding this.
Two other youths were stopped following another incident involving catapulting and damage being caused. The two youths were located and detained and searched. Two catapults and some Class B drugs were located. The investigation into this matter is ongoing.
Officers have been tackling ASB at fast food restaurants in the town centre which have become hotspots for ASB. A number of youths have been identified as the main causes of this behaviour and officers are following up with this. There have also been several fights which the suspects have been identified, and the investigations are ongoing.
A large fight that occurred between foreign exchange students and a group of local youths in December 2025 is being investigated. Following an arrest made on the day, town centre officers have managed to identify several other youths involved in the fight. The investigation is ongoing and those identified have been interviewed.
A security guard in Royal Victoria Place was assaulted. This was reported to Town Centre officers after the incident took place. The suspect has been identified and will be interviewed regarding this incident.
The town team also responded to a number of other incidents in the Town Centre. A 90-year-old missing person was swiftly located after he became separated from his wife. Another high risk missing person was located by officers in Royal Victoria Place following enquiries by Town Centre officers.
Following an incident where 8 students from a local secondary school were assaulted and threatened with a weapon, local officers completed evidence capture and CCTV reviews. The suspects were identified and have been arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
