Theft from vehicles

Good afternoon Resident

We have had numerous reports within the Folkestone area in relation to an unknown person targeting insecure vehicles in the early hours of the morning. They approach vehicles and try the door handles, ones that are open are searched and items taken from inside.

On the morning of the 9th of February 2026, the individual was within the area of Sandgate and has targeted several vehicles, with some items being taken. It is believed that most of the vehicles targeted have been left open, but there has been some information to suggest a device was used to open the car, this has not been verified.

To help us target this individual please do report any incidents via 999 if seen at the time or it has very recently happened and the suspect may be in the local area. If you notice something the next day or later, then please use the Kent Police website Home | Kent Police to let us know. Officers will be patrolling and have been briefed in relation to incidents.
