Knife Crime Awareness

Knife Crime Awareness

Good Afternoon,

This week, we have been welcomed into Folkestone Academy to deliver a series of assemblies to year groups focused on knife crime awareness.

During the sessions, students were shown a powerful and impactful video featuring the family of 16-year-old Ben Kinsella. The video highlighted the devastating and lasting impact his death has had on his loved ones, helping students understand the real-life consequences of knife crime.

We engaged students in discussions around:

A key focus of the assemblies was encouraging students to speak up if they have concerns about someone carrying a knife. We emphasised that reporting concerns is about protecting lives and preventing harm—not “snitching.”

Students were signposted to several ways they can report concerns safely and appropriately, including:

The overall message reinforced that early reporting can prevent serious harm and that everyone has a role in keeping themselves and others safe.

If you would like any support or advice, please contact Kent Police on 101 (or 999 in an emergency), or get in touch with me via My Community Voice.

Kind regards,

PC Kerry Duncan
