**** YOU SAID WE DID **** Beat officers are carrying out regular vehicle checks as road safety has been highlighted as one of the major concerns for the area.
On 29th May 2026, whilst on mobile patrol, beat officers observed a vehicle exiting the Eureka Business Park. Officers briefly lost sight of the vehicle; however, it was subsequently reacquired a short time later on Chart Road, where the driver was indicated to stop.
Upon speaking with the driver, it was established that they were the holder of a provisional driving licence and were driving unsupervised, contrary to licensing conditions. As a result, the driver was reported for relevant driving offences, and the vehicle was seized in accordance with police powers.
Driving whilst unqualified or uninsured remains a significant road safety concern across the UK.
Drivers who are unqualified or uninsured are statistically more likely to be involved in collisions and often present a greater risk to other road users.
This incident highlights the continued need for visible policing and road traffic enforcement to reduce harm, improve road safety, and deter unlawful driving behaviour.
