We've seen an increase in reports of number plate thefts across the Sevenoaks District in recent weeks. Many of these offences are taking place during the evening and overnight hours when it becomes darker and there are fewer people around.

Please take a moment to check your vehicle and help protect yourself from becoming a victim. 

Stolen number plates are often used by criminals to help conceal other offences, leaving innocent vehicle owners dealing with the consequences. If your plates are stolen, report it to Kent Police and inform the DVLA as soon as possible.

How you can reduce the risk:

🔹 Fit anti-tamper or security screws to your number plates.
🔹 Park in a garage or well-lit location whenever possible.
🔹 Position your vehicle so plates are less accessible to thieves.
🔹 Consider installing CCTV, a video doorbell, or parking within view of existing cameras.
🔹 Regularly check your registration plates are secure and haven't been tampered with.
🔹 Remain vigilant and report suspicious behaviour.
