Kent Police runs Community Speedwatch, a volunteer-led initiative focused on reducing speeding and improving safety. What is Speedwatch?
👥 Local volunteers, trained by Kent Police, monitor speeds at approved sites (20, 30, or 40 mph zones) using certified equipment.
📋 Details of speeding vehicles are securely logged for 12 months. Repeat or excessive offenders may receive advisory letters—and in some cases, personal visits from officers. Important:
Speedwatch is educational, not enforcement. No fines or penalty points are issued directly, but the data helps target police action and inform road safety improvements. ✅ Does it work?

👉 www.kent.police.uk/speedwatch Today, Town Centre Officers conducted a speed enforcement operation on Sittingbourne Road.
During the approximately 45-minute operation, four vehicles were stopped and issued with traffic offence reports for exceeding the speed limit. The highest speed recorded was 40mph in a 30mph zone.
Officers also seized one vehicle after checks revealed it was being driven without valid vehicle tax.
Speed limits are in place to help keep all road users safe, and enforcement activity will continue across the area. Please remember to drive responsibly and within the posted speed limits.
