Despite efforts to avoid police the suspect's plan was ultimately flushed away...

Today, Rochester Beat Officers have successfully located and arrested an outstanding offender following a determined search and a brief standoff at his home address.

Upon locating the male, officers knocked on his door several times receiving no response. It became apparent that the offender had barricaded himself inside the property in an attempt to avoid arrest. Remaining completely silent and still, he hoped officers would believe he was not present.

Undeterred, officers continued to monitor the address and carry out enquiries. After a period of silence, the offender inadvertently revealed his presence by flushing the toilet! 

This gave officers the confirmation they needed to believe that he was inside the property. Officers prepared to force entry to execute the arrest, striking the door. However, as officers began the process, the male decided to come to the door shouting that police had woken him up. The male was swiftly arrested and taken into police custody.

The arrest highlights the persistence, patience and professionalism of officers who remained committed to bringing an outstanding offender into custody. 

It also serves as a reminder that avoiding police action is rarely a successful strategy!!

Whilst he managed to stay silent and out of sight for quite some time, in the end his escape plan went down the drain... literally
