New Camera in The Vines!

I just wanted to share some excellent work and excellent news with you.

Kent Police funded a new camera that now has coverage of The Vines, Vines Lane, Rochester. I joined forces with The Kings School and Kyndi (Council CCTV) to identify where the camera would be best placed and how best use available funding. The camera is now installed and functioning.

The camera will serve to prevent and detect crimes that happen in the area. This will allow the police and the council to effectively monitor the area and bring offenders to justice and prevent ASB (anti-social behaviour). We also hope that it will make local residents feel a bit more reassured that we do listen and we do act where we can.

On other news, there has been some fantastic joint working with the police and local business owners during the day time economy and night time economy. This consists of identify offenders and arresting them. Night time economy venues have been doing thorough searches of their  patrons prior to entry to their venues which has shown increase in drug seizures, over 10 bags of white powder and cannabis have been seized so far in the past weeks. 

We understand that there has been anti-social behaviour with regards to vehicles in the area, thanks to the support of the community and their keen eye for detail, we have been able to identify the vehicles and the drivers/riders and issue Section 59 warning notices - which if someone is given 2 we can seize their vehicles. We have also completed referrals to partner agencies to those children who have also been causing anti-social behaviour in Corys Road to offer support and deter them in future.
