Weald North

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is made up of Kent Police beat officers who are dedicated to keeping your community safe. They focus on preventing crime and antisocial behaviour, responding to local concerns, and building strong relationships with residents, community groups and local businesses.

Our officers will:

  • patrol to deter crime and reassure the public

  • hold regular engagement activities in the area, including attending community meetings to share advice and listen to concerns

  • work with partner agencies including councils, schools, charities, and local groups

  • tackle issues like antisocial behaviour, repeat offending, and vulnerability

  • build trust by being visible, approachable, and responsive

Neighbourhood policing is a key part of Kent Police’s commitment to being community-focused, visible, and responsive.

Priority Action taken

Road safety issues.

Issued 15 October 2025

In Egerton, we arrested a man after officers found a vehicle that appeared to be abandoned near homes and a building site. He was arrested for carrying tools used for stealing and for having cannabis. When he returned to the vehicle, it was found to contain several tools that we believe were going to be used for theft.

In High Halden, officers stopped a car that was being driven suspiciously. The driver was wanted for theft offences in Surrey. After searching the car, we found items that could be used for future thefts. The man was arrested and taken into custody.

We also seized several vehicles in High Halden because they had no valid tax.

Catapults.

Issued 15 October 2025

We continue to patrol the area with high‑visibility officers to deter catapult‑related crime. We have also issued antisocial behaviour agreements and Community Protection Warnings to young people who have been causing ongoing problems in the community. These measures require the individuals and their families to work with the police and partner agencies and to agree to stop certain types of harmful behaviour.

We are also working with local schools through our Child Centred Policing Teams to talk about the dangers and misuse of catapults. Alongside this, we have worked with Ashford Borough Council to introduce a Public Spaces Protection Order in Ashford Town Centre. This is a set of rules designed to tackle antisocial behaviour in public areas.

After gathering evidence with the council, it was clear that catapults were causing issues in the town centre. As a result, the Public Spaces Protection Order now bans people from carrying catapults and items that can be used as bearings. The order also explains what action can be taken if e‑scooters are used illegally in the area.

Fly-tipping.

Issued 15 October 2025

We have held special days of action to target people who dump rubbish illegally. By sharing information, we have been able to stop illegal waste carriers and report them for offences.

We have also visited problem areas with Kent County Council to support their work at illegal waste sites and gather more intelligence.

More days of action are planned as we move into 2026.
