Sturry

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is made up of Kent Police beat officers who are dedicated to keeping your community safe. They focus on preventing crime and antisocial behaviour, responding to local concerns, and building strong relationships with residents, community groups and local businesses.

Our officers will:

  • patrol to deter crime and reassure the public

  • hold regular engagement activities in the area, including attending community meetings to share advice and listen to concerns

  • work with partner agencies including councils, schools, charities, and local groups

  • tackle issues like antisocial behaviour, repeat offending, and vulnerability

  • build trust by being visible, approachable, and responsive

Neighbourhood policing is a key part of Kent Police’s commitment to being community-focused, visible, and responsive.

Local Priority Issues

Priority Action taken

Dog fouling.

Issued 15 October 2025

Dog fouling has been reported as an ongoing issue in the area, but no locations have been identified as high‑impact hotspots. Residents are encouraged to report incidents directly to the council, as dog fouling is a council‑led matter. Formal reports help the council’s environmental enforcement team take the right action.

Accurate reporting also helps the council pinpoint problem areas, identify repeat offenders and consider enforcement options such as fixed penalty notices when appropriate.

Road safety issues.

Issued 15 October 2025

Officers have carried out speed checks using handheld speed‑detection devices in areas known for persistent speeding. Off‑road motorbikes also remain a problem, particularly where they cause noise, danger and nuisance to residents.

To tackle this, officers have been completing regular foot patrols in the affected areas, speaking with residents, monitoring activity and identifying access points used by riders. Posters have also been displayed to raise awareness, encourage reporting and reassure the community that Kent Police are actively monitoring and taking action against nuisance bikes.

Antisocial behaviour - general.

Issued 15 October 2025

An address within a block of flats had been causing persistent antisocial behaviour (ASB). Officers worked with the housing agency to progress an eviction, which has now been completed.

At another address, ASB concerns continue. However, residents are speaking to PC Parkinson Wellard in person rather than reporting incidents through the proper channels.
This means there are no official calls linked to the location. PC Parkinson Wellard is working with the council, who are also experiencing a lack of formal reports.

Shoplifting remains an issue in shops in Sturry. Local beat officers have carried out plain‑clothes operations in response.

Parking concerns were also raised at local primary schools. Officers attended with the council, moved vehicles on where appropriate and gave words of advice when needed.
