Westgate
Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is made up of Kent Police beat officers who are dedicated to keeping your community safe. They focus on preventing crime and antisocial behaviour, responding to local concerns, and building strong relationships with residents, community groups and local businesses.
Our officers will:
patrol to deter crime and reassure the public
hold regular engagement activities in the area, including attending community meetings to share advice and listen to concerns
work with partner agencies including councils, schools, charities, and local groups
tackle issues like antisocial behaviour, repeat offending, and vulnerability
build trust by being visible, approachable, and responsive
Neighbourhood policing is a key part of Kent Police’s commitment to being community-focused, visible, and responsive.

Antisocial behaviour - general. Issued 15 October 2025 |
Our officers carry out daily foot patrols in Canterbury City Centre, focusing on places where antisocial behaviour has been reported. We regularly patrol outside McDonald’s and along St George’s Street, where we know groups of young people often gather from around 3pm. Our officers speak with these young people and work to prevent issues from developing. Actioned 21 January 2026 |

E-scooters/nuisance motorcycles. Issued 15 October 2025 |
Our Community Safety Unit works closely with the Traffic Enforcement Team at Canterbury City Council to tackle illegal e‑scooters and nuisance motorcycles. We carry out joint patrols, and when officers see e‑scooters being ridden in public, they stop them and seize them because their use on public roads and paths is illegal. During a targeted operation in the city centre, officers seized several e‑scooters as part of this work. Actioned 21 January 2026 |
