Joyden's Wood

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is made up of Kent Police beat officers who are dedicated to keeping your community safe. They focus on preventing crime and antisocial behaviour, responding to local concerns, and building strong relationships with residents, community groups and local businesses.

Our officers will:

  • patrol to deter crime and reassure the public

  • hold regular engagement activities in the area, including attending community meetings to share advice and listen to concerns

  • work with partner agencies including councils, schools, charities, and local groups

  • tackle issues like antisocial behaviour, repeat offending, and vulnerability

  • build trust by being visible, approachable, and responsive

Neighbourhood policing is a key part of Kent Police’s commitment to being community-focused, visible, and responsive.

Vehicle crime.

Issued 16 April 2026

PC Shoker has been providing crime prevention advice at his monthly ward surgeries across the Joydens Wood, Maypole, Leyton Cross and Dartford Heath areas. Ward surgeries give residents the opportunity to speak directly with their local officer, raise concerns and receive advice on keeping themselves, their property and their community safe. In addition, PC Shoker and his neighbourhood policing colleagues have increased patrols in the area. These include both high-visibility patrols, where officers are clearly visible to the public, and plain clothes patrols, where officers are not in uniform. These patrols are designed to deter criminal activity, identify offenders and reduce opportunities for crime to take place.

Burglary.

Issued 16 April 2026

PC Shoker has been providing crime prevention advice at his monthly ward surgeries across the Joydens Wood, Maypole, Leyton Cross and Dartford Heath areas. Ward surgeries give residents the opportunity to meet their local officer, discuss concerns affecting their community and receive advice on how to stay safe and help prevent crime. In addition, PC Shoker, his fellow neighbourhood beat officers and local policing teams have carried out regular high-visibility patrols in the area. These patrols help to deter offending, reassure residents and reduce opportunities for this type of crime to occur. Officers will continue to maintain a visible presence in the community and work with residents to address local concerns.

Actioned 30 June 2026

Road safety.

Issued 16 April 2026

PC Shoker has increased patrols in the area to tackle poor driving and improve road safety. As part of this work, he has issued Traffic Offence Reports (TOR) and spoken directly with drivers about safe and legal driving. A TOR is a formal record created by police when someone is suspected of committing a road traffic offence. Depending on the circumstances, this can lead to a fixed penalty notice, a driver education course or a court appearance. Over the past 3 months, several vehicles have been seized because of concerns about driver behaviour and other road traffic offences. PC Shoker is also exploring opportunities to introduce future Speedwatch campaigns. Speedwatch is a community scheme that allows trained volunteers to work alongside the police to monitor vehicle speeds in their local area and report concerns. The aim is to raise awareness of speeding, encourage safer driving and help make local communities safer for everyone.
