Newtown

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is made up of Kent Police beat officers who are dedicated to keeping your community safe. They focus on preventing crime and antisocial behaviour, responding to local concerns, and building strong relationships with residents, community groups and local businesses.

Our officers will:

  • patrol to deter crime and reassure the public

  • hold regular engagement activities in the area, including attending community meetings to share advice and listen to concerns

  • work with partner agencies including councils, schools, charities, and local groups

  • tackle issues like antisocial behaviour, repeat offending, and vulnerability

  • build trust by being visible, approachable, and responsive

Neighbourhood policing is a key part of Kent Police’s commitment to being community-focused, visible, and responsive.

Local Priority Issues

Priority Action taken

Antisocial behaviour.

Issued 08 October 2025

Officers have held several 'coffee with a cop' sessions and surgeries, giving residents the chance to speak with us about any concerns. We shared updates on local issues and offered safety and crime‑prevention advice. Our high‑visibility and plain‑clothes patrols have helped us identify persistent offenders, which has led to sanctions being issued under the Antisocial Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

We are continuing to work with local partners to reduce opportunities for antisocial behaviour. Dartford Borough Council is supporting this work by repairing broken streetlights and focusing on problem addresses, with potential closure orders being considered where needed.

Theft shoplifting.

Issued 08 October 2025

Officers have ensured that all stores in the ward are members of the Dartford Town Against Crime (DTAC) scheme and understand when and how to use their supplied radios. Regular DTAC meetings have helped us identify repeat offenders, who have then been dealt with for both recent and outstanding offences.

Image sharing through the DISC app has made it easier to quickly identify suspects, helping us deliver swift justice.

While out on patrol, officers have been speaking with local businesses and encouraging them to report all crimes. We also make sure we update stores on offender outcomes so that victims know what has happened as a result of their reports and can see the value of supporting prosecutions.

Drug taking.

Issued 08 October 2025

Officers have been working alongside Dartford Borough Council to identify known problem addresses linked to drug use, which goes with antisocial behaviour. Closure orders are being explored and will be sought in the future. High visibility foot patrols of local parks and recreation area's have resulted in stop checks of suspicious persons and Community Resolutions being issued for simple possession of drugs. Officers have also supported our Neighbourhood Task Force in the execution of Drugs Search Warrants which have resulted in the recovery of drugs and drugs paraphernalia.
