Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is made up of Kent Police beat officers who are dedicated to keeping your community safe. They focus on preventing crime and antisocial behaviour, responding to local concerns, and building strong relationships with residents, community groups and local businesses.

Our officers will:

  • patrol to deter crime and reassure the public

  • hold regular engagement activities in the area, including attending community meetings to share advice and listen to concerns

  • work with partner agencies including councils, schools, charities, and local groups

  • tackle issues like antisocial behaviour, repeat offending, and vulnerability

  • build trust by being visible, approachable, and responsive

Neighbourhood policing is a key part of Kent Police’s commitment to being community-focused, visible, and responsive.

Local Priority Issues

Priority Action taken

Nuisance youth antisocial behaviour.

Issued 30 October 2025

PC Atherton is working closely with the Neighbourhood Task Force Town Centre Team and the Child Centred Policing Team. Together, they are carrying out regular high‑visibility patrols and engaging with schools, parents and the council to address concerns raised by the community.

Several bikes have been seized and Section 59 antisocial behaviour warnings have been issued to e‑scooter riders. A Section 59 warning is a formal notice given when a vehicle is used in a way that causes alarm, distress or nuisance. If the same rider or vehicle is involved in similar behaviour within the next 12 months, the police have the power to seize the vehicle.

Young people involved in causing issues are also being dealt with appropriately, using the full range of policing powers where necessary.

We’re working with partners to ensure buildings are secure, reducing the risk of criminal damage. High visibility patrolling has been carried out and officers have also stopped youths carrying catapults; they’ve been identified and dealt with using appropriate police powers.
