Antisocial behaviour. Issued 03 November 2025 |
We’ve received complaints about antisocial behaviour in several areas of Birchington South, especially around Memorial Recreation Ground and Quex Park. PC England, along with the Neighbourhood Task Force, is carrying out regular patrols in these areas to deter antisocial behaviour and identify those responsible. PC England also works closely with community partners, including Kent County Council Community Warden, Birchington Parish Council, and Thanet District Council Community Safety Partnership, to provide a joined-up response. Kent Police have a range of powers to deal with antisocial behaviour, and these will be used where appropriate. Actioned 15 December 2025 |

Theft - shoplifting. Issued 03 November 2025 |
We are aware of the detrimental impact of retail crime on businesses in Birchington South and how it affects customers and staff, on top of the financial loss suffered. PC England is conducting regular high visibility patrolling around Station Road, where our business community is most heavily centred, and will use the various powers available to police officers including stop and search, as well as arrest. PC England also reviews CCTV from retail premises when offences have been committed to potentially identify the suspect so that they can be prosecuted accordingly. PC England has already identified several offenders from CCTV which has allowed them to be prosecuted. Actioned 15 December 2025 |

Homelessness/begging. Issued 03 November 2025 |
Sometimes, homeless people will gravitate towards Birchington South. Our primary focus in Kent Police is always offering them support including making referrals to housing and other support agencies. However, if the individual shows criminal or anti-social behaviour, then we will consider options to address that behaviour. Previously this has included issuing Community Protection Warnings and Community Protection Notices. Actioned 15 December 2025 |
