  • hold regular engagement activities in the area, including attending community meetings to share advice and listen to concerns

  • work with partner agencies including councils, schools, charities, and local groups

  • tackle issues like antisocial behaviour, repeat offending, and vulnerability

Priority Action taken

Antisocial behaviour.

Issued 03 November 2025

We’ve received reports of antisocial behaviour in several areas of Birchington South. PC England, supported by the Neighbourhood Task Force, is carrying out regular patrols in these locations to deter antisocial behaviour and identify those responsible. PC England also works closely with community partners, including the Kent County Council Community Warden, Birchington Parish Council and Thanet District Council Community Safety Partnership, to provide a joined‑up response. Kent Police has a range of powers to deal with antisocial behaviour, and these will be used where appropriate.

Theft - shoplifting.

Issued 03 November 2025

We recognise the impact that retail crime has on businesses, as well as on customers and staff. PC England carries out regular high‑visibility patrols around Station Road, where most local businesses are based, and will use the full range of policing powers available, including stop and search and arrest, when appropriate. He also reviews CCTV from stores where offences have taken place to help identify suspects, several have already been recognised and prosecuted.

Homelessness/begging.

Issued 03 November 2025

Sometimes, homeless people will gravitate towards Birchington South. Our primary focus is always offering them support including making referrals to housing and other support agencies. However, if the individual shows criminal or antisocial behaviour, then we will consider options to address that behaviour. Previously this has included issuing Community Protection Warnings and Community Protection Notices.
