Town

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is made up of Kent Police beat officers who are dedicated to keeping your community safe. They focus on preventing crime and antisocial behaviour, responding to local concerns, and building strong relationships with residents, community groups and local businesses.

Our officers will:

  • patrol to deter crime and reassure the public

  • hold regular engagement activities in the area, including attending community meetings to share advice and listen to concerns

  • work with partner agencies including councils, schools, charities, and local groups

  • tackle issues like antisocial behaviour, repeat offending, and vulnerability

  • build trust by being visible, approachable, and responsive

Neighbourhood policing is a key part of Kent Police’s commitment to being community-focused, visible, and responsive.

Local Priority Issues

Priority Action taken

Antisocial behaviour.

Issued 03 February 2026

Kent Police have taken a proactive approach to tackling antisocial behaviour in the town centre. We have increased high‑visibility patrols at peak times to reassure local businesses and the wider community, alongside plain‑clothed patrols to help identify issues that may not be immediately visible.

All reports of antisocial behaviour are followed up, including reviewing closed‑circuit television footage and sharing images with our Child‑Centred Policing Team, who work closely with schools. This helps ensure young people are identified quickly, spoken to appropriately, and that parents are involved where needed. Through this combined approach, we continue to prevent, deter and deal with anti‑social behaviour in the town centre.

Nuisance vehicles.

Issued 03 February 2026

Kent Police have taken a proactive approach to tackling nuisance vehicles in the town centre, with targeted action against the illegal and antisocial use of e‑bikes and e‑scooters. During a two‑day operation, officers used specialist resources including a police drone, plain‑clothed officers and uniformed patrols to identify and deal with offenders quickly and safely.

As a result, 20 illegal e‑scooters were seized, helping to reduce reports and increase confidence among residents and businesses. We will continue to carry out intelligence‑led operations and work with partners to reduce nuisance vehicle use across the area.

Alcohol use.

Issued 03 February 2026

Kent Police have continued to tackle alcohol‑related disorder in the town centre through targeted high‑visibility patrols at key times. These patrols help reassure the public, deter problem behaviour and allow officers to respond quickly to issues linked to excessive drinking.

During one patrol, officers dealt with an alcohol‑related incident that led to criminal damage at a local bar. The offender was arrested, preventing further disruption and supporting the affected business. Through visible policing and close work with licensed premises, we continue to reduce the impact of alcohol misuse and keep the town centre safe.
