Hempstead and Wigmore

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is made up of Kent Police beat officers who are dedicated to keeping your community safe. They focus on preventing crime and antisocial behaviour, responding to local concerns, and building strong relationships with residents, community groups and local businesses.

Our officers will:

  • patrol to deter crime and reassure the public

  • hold regular engagement activities in the area, including attending community meetings to share advice and listen to concerns

  • work with partner agencies including councils, schools, charities, and local groups

  • tackle issues like antisocial behaviour, repeat offending, and vulnerability

  • build trust by being visible, approachable, and responsive

Neighbourhood policing is a key part of Kent Police’s commitment to being community-focused, visible, and responsive.

Local Priority Issues

Priority Action taken

Antisocial behaviour.

Issued 19 November 2025

We have carried out high visibility patrols in Hempstead and Wigmore. Council dog warden posters have been put up in important spots to remind residents to clean up after their dogs. Officers have also spoken to dog walkers during patrols to raise awareness and encourage responsible behaviour.

We continue to work closely with residents to identify anyone involved in antisocial behaviour. We have been working with Medway Housing and other housing agencies to help move people into accommodation where the risk of further problems is lower. The beat officer for the area where the person has been moved to has been fully updated.

Nuisance motorcycles.

Issued 04 November 2025

We have been carrying out regular high visibility patrols to deter nuisance motorcycles, road racing, and car meet ups. We have stayed in close contact with residents and the security team at Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre. This helps us get quick updates so we can respond in the right way. When a car meet takes place, we use our dispersal powers to deal with the issue. We also ask other departments in Kent Police to support us when needed. This also includes high-visibility patrolling. This issue is still ongoing, and we know it continues to cause problems. We will keep working to reduce this behaviour and support the community.

Road safety issues.

Issued 04 November 2025

We have carried out targeted high‑visibility patrols in key areas to deal with reports of racing and dangerous driving. We have also been working with our Speedwatch volunteers. We have used our dispersal powers to tackle this behaviour, and we ask other departments in Kent Police to support us when needed, including providing extra high‑visibility patrols. We know this issue is still ongoing and that it continues to worry local people. We will keep working to tackle unsafe driving and make the roads safer for everyone.
